Destination clubs, residence funds and luxury travel clubs provide their members with access to multiple luxury vacation homes, located all over the world. The homes are typically multi-million dollar residences, and are sited in major cities, at beaches, in mountains and leisure locations.

Membership of the clubs is an alternative to buying a second home. The clubs are sometimes also compared to, or even mixed up with, private residence clubs, but there are several key differences between the two.

The luxury destination club has increased its destination portfolio by more than 33% in 2012, adding 20 new destinations. Members now have access to more than 170 luxury residences and experiences in more than 60 of the world's most sought-after destinations.

Luxury Residence Fund, Equity Estates, has acquired a new Midtown Manhattan penthouse in the award-winning Dillon Building at 425 West 53rd Street. This residence offers three floors of thoughtfully designed living space and features two interior floors, three bedrooms and three baths.

This new style destination club, in which members pay on a rental usage model, now offers more than 170 vetted homes and villas, in 60 destinations around the world.

Membership in a destination club or residence fund gives members access to a collection of luxurious vacation homes around the world, in upscale locations. In addition, members enjoy a wide variety of personalized services and resort amenities. Why should you consider joining a destination club or residence fund?

Simply called "Inspirato for Business", the new membership category is aimed at companies who want to provide Inspirato level accommodation and services to their staff and business partners.

The equity destination club recently sold out its first fund and is just launching this second fund. Owners in the Lone Star Fund will also have reciprocal use of homes in fund 1.

The destination club has lowered the initial buy in level and expanded the properties to include usage at sister club Marriott resorts.

These two equity based destination clubs have recently announced a reciprocity agreement, providing mutual access to their respective home portfolios.

The rapidly growing, rental based club Inspirato has added some last minute travel deals for members. The club sends out weekly emails with residences that are available at very short notice for prices starting at $295 a night.

Both of these clubs have launched in the last two years, and both offer fully serviced vacations at luxury villas, residences and select other travel opportunities. So how do they compare to each other? Read on....

The first fund from Luxus, the Premiere Collection, is close to being sold out. The newly launched Elite Collection is targeting higher end vacation homes with average property values exceeding $2.5 million.

Destination Club Exclusive Resorts launched Portico earlier this year and has seen phenomenal growth, adding over 1,600 members to date. Justin Halloran was formerly at vacation home giant HomeAway, where he launched HomeAway's flagship global template website across 12 countries.

The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club offers an array of properties for members to visit and enjoy. Like its hotel line, these residences offer five-star accommodations and amenities that are among the finest in the world. And the Aspen Highlands Ritz-Carlton is no exception to this rule.

With the growing economy the equity destination club has taken on new staff to start to expand again and is adding new members.

This new addition means shareholders will now have the use of apartments located in Paris, Barcelona, Florence and Prague. The Prague apartment is currently being refurbished and furnished and will be available to Rocksure shareholders from May.
